
A soloist of the “Ion Dacian” National Operetta and Musical Theatre in Bucharest, tenor Mihai Urzicana holds a Master’s degree from the National University of Music Bucharest, as well as diplomas from the Orthodox Theological Seminary of Constanța and the Faculty of Theology, specializing in Sacred Art and Pastoral Theology.
Mihai Urzicana is also a soloist of the Armonia Choir from Constanța, an ensemble with which he has performed concerts around the world (England, Ireland, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Spain, Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia, Poland, Switzerland, Israel, etc.) and has won Gold Medals at international choral competitions in the USA, Latvia, Austria, Germany, and Russia.
As an opera soloist, tenor Mihai Urzicana has won numerous national and international awards, including:
- First Prize – Mihail Jora National Music Interpretation Competition
- First Prize – Opera Start National Competition
- Second Prize and Audience Award – L’Assoluta Virginia Zeani – The International Grand Prix of Romania, Târgu Mureș
- Second Prize – Vox Artis International Competition, Sibiu
He is a constant presence on concert stages and in musical theatre productions both in Romania and abroad.
Tenor Mihai Urzicana has benefited from the guidance of internationally renowned opera professionals, including Liora Maurer and Lucy Arner (Metropolitan Opera, New York), baritone George Petean, and stage director Sharon Mohar (Les Maîtres Sonneurs, France).
