Mădălina Ioana Petre and the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre invite you to a recital of classical guitar and voice. We allow ourselves to be surprised by the richness of Brazilian rhythms in works by composers such as Heitor Villa‑Lobos, Radamés Gnattali, César Guerra‑Peixe, Baden Powell, and Laurindo Almeida. The repertoire of this concert is built by pairing works dedicated exclusively to the Brazilian classical guitar with instrumental‑vocal pieces such as Aria Cantilena (from Bachianas Brasileiras), Azulão, Modinha, Choro and Batuque. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to enjoy an evening of cultivated Brazilian music.
Special guest: soprano Mihaela Alexa.
Mădălina Ioana Petre recently earned her Doctorate in Music from the National University of Music in Bucharest. Her research on the Brazilian repertoire dedicated to the classical guitar has taken her over the past three years to Portugal, where she has interacted with renowned Brazilian musicians such as Yamandu Costa, Guinga, Rocho7chordas, Franco dal Amore, among many others.
Over the years, she has performed alongside important names from the national and international classical and jazz scenes, such as Alex Man, Tony Pustay, Irina Iordăchescu, and Maria João de Sousa, and her appearances have resonated on major stages including the Romanian National Opera, Radio Romania Hall, Maria Filotti Theatre, Nottara Theatre, the Portuguese Music Museum in Estoril, Casa América Latina in Lisbon, Oficina da Música in Aveiro, and the Penafiel Palace in Lisbon — headquarters of the Community of Portuguese‑Speaking Countries.
Mădălina has refined her musical artistry by studying classical guitar and vocal jazz, yet she has always worked across multiple dimensions of artistic creation: theatre, dance, choreography, and event hosting.
Mihaela Alexa completed her bachelor’s and master’s studies in music at the National University of Music in Bucharest, specializing in classical singing. She is among the few classical vocal soloists who have successfully blended a wide variety of genres, from classical music to light music, jazz, pop, and soul. She has won numerous classical music and jazz competitions.
She is currently a soloist at the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre in Bucharest and performs both nationally and internationally.
