Soprano Mediana Vlad, Doctor of Music, and pianist Andreea Dobia, Doctor of Music, together with their distinguished guests: the Radio Boys’ Choir – conductor Liviu Ofițeru, tenor Oliver Popa (London), soprano Mihaela Teodorescu, baritone Cătălin Petrescu, and soprano Beatrice Crăciun, warmly and reverently invite you to an exceptional Easter musical event.
The program proposes a musical itinerary that highlights the continuity of the sacred tradition within Western creation, bringing together arias and duets from oratorios, cantatas, and masses, in an interpretative arc that blends, in the first part of the evening, liturgical expression with the concert refinement of composers A. Vivaldi, J. S. Bach, W. A. Mozart, G. F. Handel, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, G. Fauré, C. Franck, A. L. Webber, M. Jora.
The selected repertoire explores the spirituality of sacred music across stylistic eras, in a sonic journey marked by reflection, solemnity, and joy.
The second part proposes an affective and stylistic shift, guiding the musical discourse toward gospel, negro spirituals, and sacred hymns of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as: Amazing Grace, Take Me to the Water, The Old Rugged Cross, You Raise Me Up, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, Joyful, Joyful, I Sing Because I’m Happy, and others.
Within this soundscape, vocal timbre, phrasing, and pianistic dialogue will highlight the communal dimension, spiritual resilience, and the profoundly human capacity of music to restore hope.
A special moment of the evening is the participation of the angelic voices of the children from the Radio Boys’ Choir, integrated into a scenic and choreographic concept inspired by the tradition of African-American gospel, bringing a moment of light and artistic freshness.
The event will also include unique moments in which the established artists of the National Operetta and Musical Theatre “Ion Dacian,” Cătălin Petrescu and Mediana Vlad, will perform alongside their own children — David Petrescu, and Timeea & Dezias Vlad-Oprea — in a celebration of artistic continuity and intergenerational dialogue.
It will be an evening in which interpretative rigor intertwines with authentic emotion, offering you, distinguished audience, a profound, unique, and memorable sonic experience!
