Who is Mister X? — the question of the week at the Operetta Theatre

Who is Mister X? — the question of the week at the Operetta Theatre

    Discounted tickets for seniors

The Operetta returns this week to the Operetta Theatre with The Circus Princess by Emmerich Kálmán, a production for which seniors benefit from reduced‑price tickets through the “Full of Life” campaign. Three sopranos will perform the role of Princess Feodora Palinska in this week’s shows: Rodica Ștefan (Thursday, 2 October), Mihaela Alexa (Saturday, 4 October) and Patricia Seymour (Sunday, 5 October). At the same time, the enigmatic Mister X will always be the same: tenor Mihai Urzicana. Details and tickets: opereta.ro, ticketstore.ro, eventim.ro.

Rodica Ștefan says she has missed this role, which she will perform in the opening of the series. For the prima donna of the Bucharest Operetta, “Fedora Palinska is not just a princess, but a woman living through real contradictions: between duty and love, between her public image and her intimate soul.”
Mihaela Alexa believes that “the audience, regardless of age, is won over every time by this role,” which she will perform on Saturday, 4 October. “I confess that I can’t wait to step into that unique atmosphere of perpetual youth, where everyone rejoices and feels the need to applaud,” she told us.
For her part, Patricia Seymour, Sunday’s princess on 5 October, said: “I am delighted every time I perform this role, which truly makes you feel like a princess loved by an enigmatic man. What more could you wish for?”

“My character remains just as enigmatic, even if he falls in love with a different princess every evening,” tenor Mihai Urzicana also told us.

“With the Circus Princess series — a production of remarkable grandeur and extraordinary visual richness — we are launching the ‘Full of Life’ program, with significant ticket discounts as a sign of respect for those who have worked their entire lives and deserve to enjoy themselves,” said Radu Petrovici, manager of the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre.

The “Full of Life” program, launched together with the Circus Princess series, offers special ticket prices for seats in categories 3, 4, and 5. Thus, a ticket in these categories will cost 27 lei on Thursday and 49 lei on weekends. Tickets are available online and at the theatre’s box office

    The Circus Princess

(Die Zirkusprinzessin) is an operetta in three acts composed by Emmerich Kálmán, with a libretto by Julius Brammer and Alfred Grünwald. It premiered on 26 March 1926 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna, enjoying tremendous success: 344 performances by June 1927. The plot revolves around the mysterious character “Mister X,” who always wears a mask, and his love for Princess Feodora Palinska.

At the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre, the October program offers the ideal combination of tradition and modernity: operetta, musical, opera, and theatre. After The Circus Princess, a series of three productions will follow (I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, Next to Normal, The Human Voice and The Beautiful Indifferent), after which the two weeks dedicated to celebrating the Johann Strauss Bicentennial begin. Headlining the program: Viennese Blood, directed by Rareș Zaharia, followed by The Gypsy Baron, the Strauss 200 Gala, and the Opereta Lounge performance Waltz, Dance, Waltz. The month of October will conclude with the successful musical Romeo and Juliet.
