April 29th was established as International Dance Day in 1982, at the initiative of the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) under UNESCO. In this way, both dance and the founder of modern ballet, Jean Georges Noverre — born on April 29th, 1727 — are celebrated.
How else could we celebrate such a day, if not by bringing together those who love to dance with those who love to witness beauty and performance?
The organization of the “Dance Around the World” Gala (1st edition) is the way in which the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre, together with the Ministry of Culture, aim to celebrate this event every year.
The Gala program will include classical variations, jazz, modern and contemporary dance, folk dances, and acro‑dance.
On this occasion, we will also be joined by distinguished guest dancers who, throughout their careers, have amazed thousands of spectators with their remarkable talent, performing on the most important stages in the country and beyond.
We invite you to join us on April 29th, the day when elegance is expressed through dance!
