Opereta Love Story

Operetta LOVE STORY – Extraordinary Concert with the Ion Dacian National Operetta Theatre Orchestra and Tenor Ștefan von Korch

The Month of Love brings romantic harmonies to the stage of the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre: the most vibrant love stories and the moments of highest emotional intensity from the universal lyrical repertoire will be celebrated in the concert Operetta LOVE STORY, where refinement, passion, and emotion intertwine.

The virtuoso instrumentalists of the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre Orchestra, performing in an intimate salon ensemble, will carry the audience on the wings of music, while the voice of tenor Ștefan von Korch will paint all the shades of love as portrayed in arias from Romeo and Juliet, The Elixir of Love, and many others.

According to tenor Ștefan von Korch:
Operetta LOVE STORY will be a musical journey of a special kind of romanticism, dedicated to those in love — with the person beside them, but also with music itself. The concert will bring together famous excerpts from operas and operettas, as well as well‑known melodies performed in a warm, salon‑style manner, in a blend as intoxicating as a love story.”

The OPERETTA Love Story performance highlights the tradition of the salon orchestra, honoring the standards of 19th‑century ballroom ensembles through the interpretative mastery of the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre Orchestra, which will appear on stage in a refined, essentialized formation representative of the European salon tradition.

The romantic atmosphere will be enriched by the presence of surprise guests. Renowned artists, both nationally and internationally, will illuminate the evening with exceptional performances and a charming, season‑appropriate repertoire.

Tenor Ștefan von Korch is the first guest voice to join the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre Orchestra in this performance. After a year marked by acclaimed appearances on stages in Spain and Italy, as well as multiple national successes, the soloist will enliven the evening’s program with a selection of musical moments designed to make hearts resonate.

With an impressive national and international rise, Ștefan von Korch will conclude the year with major appearances at the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre and at Sala Palatului, as a guest in the 20 Years of Viennese Christmas Anniversary Concert. During the summer, he made his debut in Carmina Burana on the stage of the prestigious Palermo Classica Festival, performed alongside the Reino de Aragón Orchestra in Spain, was invited for a recital at Lipova Symphonic City – Maria Radna Open Air, and since the beginning of the year has been the host of the Musical Extravaganza concert series, presented monthly in the capital.

Also in 2024, he performed at the Târgu Mureș Philharmonic in Rossini’s Stabat Mater—a vocal‑symphonic work considered a true demonstration of virtuosity for any tenor—and in Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang. He appeared in Carmina Burana at the Craiova Summer Fest, and at the Iași Opera House in the sparkling role of Camille de Jolidon in The Merry Widow 2.0, directed by Andrei Șerban, as well as at the Romanian National Opera in Timișoara in Mario Di Carlo’s production of The Merry Widow.

In 2023, the tenor moved audiences with his masterful interpretations of the demanding tenor part in Carmina Burana, for which he is regarded as a benchmark, and he was the only Romanian soloist on a 27‑city tour across China. Other highlights of his career include major roles in operas and operettas presented on the most prominent stages in Romania: The Barber of Seville, The Elixir of Love, and Falstaff (Bucharest National Opera); Rigoletto, The Merry Widow, and The Merry Widow 2.0 (Iași National Opera); I Puritani (national premiere), Rigoletto, and The Barber of Seville (Cluj‑Napoca Romanian Opera), among others.

In 2022, he expanded his repertoire with the title role in the European premiere of Giuseppe Nicolini’s Traiano in Dacia, staged at the Romanian Opera in Cluj‑Napoca. His achievements also include roles in three absolute national premieres: Bellini’s I Puritani at the Romanian Opera in Cluj‑Napoca (2016), where he performed the highest tenor part ever written for a male voice; Bellini’s La Sonnambula (2018); and the absolute national premiere of Rossini’s Messa di Gloria (2019) at the Radio Hall in Bucharest.
