Cinderella

“Cinderella,” by Charles Perrault, is one of the most beloved and beautiful children’s stories of all time.

Cinderella, a young girl left without her parents at an age when she needed them most, remains in the care of her stepmother who, far from loving her, humiliates her whenever she has the chance. Envious of Cinderella’s natural qualities—qualities she cannot find in her own daughters—the stepmother’s cruelty only highlights the purity and goodness within Cinderella. Her gentleness, kindness, courage, and generosity, along with the help of her loyal friends, the mice, guide her through the hardships, spite, and jealousy of her stepfamily.

Cinderella’s journey in our musical adaptation is emotional, playful, humorous, and at times dramatic. The characters surrounding her play essential roles in shaping her story.

Even though her stepmother shows her no affection, the mice love and support her, and the Prince appears at a moment when she least expects it. The love she feels growing between them gives her strength to move forward and look toward the future with hope and confidence.

The King, the Minister, and his Aide are three utterly delightful characters who navigate even the most unpleasant situations with humor and charm.

The Fairy Godmother, full of wit and sparkle, appears at a completely unexpected moment and turns the story around in a way that keeps us on the edge of our seats.

The mice in our story bring a burst of energy to the show, each one being a well‑defined and memorable character.

The counterpoint of the performance is formed by the stepmother and stepsisters. Although the sisters are negative characters, in our version they are humorous, colorful, and full of personality. The stepmother, on the other hand, is sarcastic and unmoved by anything. In the end, all her efforts to prevent Cinderella and the Prince from meeting are swept away by Cinderella’s kindness and courage.

For the music of this production, director and composer Eduard Petru Jighirgiu has created a blend of classical and modern instruments, bringing this timeless story into the present day.

The costumes, projections, and lighting complete the music and the actors’ performances perfectly, giving the show a fresh, vibrant atmosphere.
