Romania in Celebration – A Concert Dedicated to the National Day at the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre

This year, the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre celebrates Romania’s National Day with a truly special event entitled “Romania in Celebration,” taking place on December 1, 2023, at 7:00 PM, on the institution’s stage located at 1 Octavian Goga Boulevard.

The performance introduces an entirely new concept, blending traditional elements with modern ones, enhanced by photo and video projections designed to guide the audience through the times and places where Romanian tradition was born, shaped, and developed over the years.

Throughout the two‑hour concert, the public will enjoy excerpts from the works of remarkable Romanian composers such as Gherase Dendrino, Ciprian Porumbescu, Florin Comișel, and Filaret Barbu. Meanwhile, Oana Rusu and Victor Bucur, the hosts of the evening, will lead the audience on a journey through time, bringing to life colorful stories from various regions of the country.

On the occasion of the National Day, the Ion Dacian National Operetta and Musical Theatre aims to support young artists at the beginning of their careers by offering them the opportunity to perform on a nationally significant stage alongside established performers. This year, the event welcomes Antonio Nicholas Piculeață (violin soloist) and Valențiu Constantin Grigorescu (piano soloist), who will present two moments from the masterpieces of Nicolae Kirculescu and Ciprian Porumbescu.

The magic of the evening will unfold under the baton of Maestro Alexandru Ilie, who will transform each moment into a story heard directly by the hearts of the listeners. Alongside the theatre’s choir, orchestra, and ballet, the stage will also feature the institution’s soloists, including: Andrei Pleșca, Amelia Antoniu, Cătălin Petrescu, Cristina Trandafir, Raluca Ciocă, Ștefan Popov, Mioara Manea Arvunescu, Mihai Urzicana, Ligia Dună, Florin Ganea, Rodica Ștefan, Orest Pîslariu‑Ranghilof, Tina Munteanu, Daniel Madia, Doina Scripcaru, Marius Mitrofan, Bianca Ionescu‑Ballo, George Vîrban, Daniela Bucșan, Alfredo Pascu, Gabriela Daha, and actor Valentino Tiron.
