Let Me Sing

Starting from the famous Romanian operetta composed by Gherase Dendrino, we have adapted the Delescu‑Sever‑Cosma libretto into a concert‑show‑event that honors the life and work of Ciprian Porumbescu. The stage thus becomes a vast photo album through which Ciprian himself guides us, making us witnesses to the events that profoundly marked the existence of the great Romanian musician: the premiere of the first Romanian operetta Crai nou, his love for Berta Gorgon, the period of imprisonment, and his illness. Let Me Sing celebrates the talent and spirit of this remarkable musician and, equally, of this great Romanian, who left us a cultural legacy we have the duty to preserve.
— Director Dana Rotaru

The concert‑show “Let Me Sing” is part of the cultural project “Let Me Sing in the Modern Era – The Revival of the Romanian Operetta,” financed by the Ministry of Culture and implemented by the Start Creativ Association, in partnership with the “Ion Dacian” National Operetta and Musical Theatre.
