    “Retrospective” Exhibition

The “Ion Dacian” National Operetta and Musical Theatre is hosting, between November 7 and December 31, 2024, the exhibition “Retrospective,” an emotional journey through the creation and life of artist Teudoru‑Teofil Doagă

The opening will take place on November 7 at 7:00 PM, as part of the Ion Dacian Festival 2024.
Born in 1958 in Asău, Bacău County, Teudoru‑Teofil Doagă is a sculptor who has contributed to the Romanian artistic landscape through works that blend tradition with the simplicity of modern forms. A graduate of the Bacău Popular School of Art, Sculpture Department, the artist trained under the guidance of professor Dumitru Huțanu, who introduced him to the intricacies of Brâncovenesc sculpture as well as contemporary sculptural approaches.

The “Retrospective” exhibition is a celebration of art and human development. It brings to the public a selection of representative works that reflect both Brâncuși‑inspired influences and the artist’s own searches and inner experiences at the age of 66. The central theme of the exhibition is the evolution of emotions and human states, each sculpture standing as a testimony to a particular period in the artist’s life. Through a minimalist approach, Doagă conveys the depth of feelings by removing physiognomic details, bringing to the forefront emotions such as despair, dreaming, happiness, and solitude.
“Sharing my emotions through these sculptures is an act of courage and vulnerability. Each piece reveals a part of me — a feeling, a memory. I hope viewers will find in them not only my story, but also their own states and emotions,” said Teudoru‑Teofil Doagă.
Throughout his career, Teudoru‑Teofil Doagă’s works have entered important collections both in Romania and abroad, being appreciated by personalities such as Ingvar Kamprad, founder of Ikea, and Nadia Comăneci.
The public is invited to the opening on November 7, at 7:00 PM, to discover the creative universe of an artist who blends tradition with modernity, offering a unique perspective on human complexity through sculpture.
