The performance “Meșterul Manole – The Rock Opera” is intended not only for rock music enthusiasts, but also for those passionate about mythology and epic storytelling. It is an experience that transcends genres, bringing to the forefront human values and dilemmas that continue to fascinate and inspire in any era.
“The opera is an extensive musical work, based on a libretto written in the 1970s by Victor Cârcu. It can be presented either as a classical opera or in a concert version. The birth of ‘Meșterul Manole’ was just as difficult as the construction works it depicts. The challenge lay primarily in finding a musical language that would align with the text. Once I discovered this language—naturally inspired by folklore—I began composing, a process that lasted from 2008 until today (2013), with a two‑year break.” — Josef Kappl
